Simply put: Teva Durham is an artist with yarn.
In her latest book Loop-D-Loop Lace, Teva shows this mastery by taking vintage lace patterns and transforming them into modern day wear. With fall just around the corner this is the perfect book to spark your knitting mojo.
This gorgeous collection is the epotime of what you would expect from the team of Teva Durham, Melanie Falick and Liana Allday. A book that is more coffee table art than your run of the mill knit book.
The book offers 30 well written patterns from scarves and shawls to pullovers, cardigans and even a gorgeous dress.
I had the wonderful opportunity to see Teva work behind the scenes as a sample knitter for this book. The way she would take a panel, drape it along a dress form and "see" what it could be. It was amazing to watch such pure creativity. I helped knit the gorgeous lavender lace pullover in Tahki Stacey Charles Superior.
Not gonna lie, seeing my name in the acknolowedgements was pretty special.
From the Lace Leaf Cravat (below) to gorgeous heirlooms like the above Shetland Shawl Dress, the collection includes patterns that will please any knitter be they a novice or an experienced pro.

I’m excited to knit more sweaters and I want to try out cable knitting (maybe a hat). I recently discovered that I can knit while standing at the bus stop, so my fall morning will be so cozy.

I scanned this book last week while touring a new-to-me LYS, and it is truly inspirational.
I’m presently knitting Heidi Kirmeier’s Vitamin D in rusty Hempathy for fall, looking forward to makin another one in golden wool for winter. That, and about 3 dozen shawls I’d like to make, including yours!

I love that lavender pullover! It’d make a great work-appropriate top, while still being interesting/pretty. The dress is pretty fantastic too, though I must admit I don’t see myself knitting or wearing a knitted lace dress any time soon…

The lavendar sweater is so dreamy. It would look great with a pencil skirt and a skinny belt with heels. So cozy to walk through the city in the fall without a jacket! Must start knitting soon for the fall wardrobe.

Wow, awesome patterns in that. 😀 I’m looking forward to knitting a good winter set, that actually matches (hopefully scarf, hat, and either gloves or mitts). If I can get it, it’ll be in a handdyed colorway. ^^
I also really like that Cravat there. It looks like a simple pattern with great integration of a lace pattern. Not to mention it’s a snug neck accessory. 😀

I love lace! I love vintage with a modern twist! I knitting modern vintage lace! All my faves in one book. I’m not usually a red girl, but that red sweater would look so great with a gray skirt I have that I think I need to knit it right away. Thanks for bringing this book to my attention.
